Indian society is among the oldest and traditional civilizations with its great and vast culture, tradition, literature and beliefs. We are living in one of the greatest democracies in which everyone has his contribution. But some of the communities are even marginalised and parted from the main stream society. We state them as secondary and there are a smaller number of policies and inclusion for them and their welfare and development. We can see them as Rag pickers, Street-vendors, Daily wage Labourers and Sex workers or Prostitutes. For a long time, the word ‘Prostitution’ considered to Female oriented and as derogatory means of earning, but the current developments regarding this have proved it to be gender equal, as both the Male and female are the parts of this market of flesh. It has been an integral part of our society for ages; still we found them on margins. The sex workers are still tending to suffer a life in misery. There are many reasons for its development around the globe, i.e.-Poverty, human trafficking, Domestic violence, unemployment, drug abuse and traditional occupation. In this research paper we are going to discuss different aspects of its emergence, development as a source of income, its place in different culture, sociological debates, Current laws and recognition in society. This paper contains some data from primary and secondary of the sources.
