Developing L2 Speaking Skills through Narration Task

Abstract:

Teaching/Learning speaking skills is considered not an easy task for learners of a second language. So far, there are a number of second language teaching methods and approaches that could contribute to teaching speaking and other skills. In particular, the paper highlights the importance of Task-Based Language Learning/Teaching, and it is one of the appropriate methods to help learners improve their speaking skills eventually. There are some selected comic stories used in this study. The participants are the 1st -year non-major English students, such as B.Sc- Physics and B.Sc-Chemistry, at Rajah Serfoji Government College, Thanjavur. Further, the paper discusses the effectiveness of narration and how the tasks influenced the students to bring out their speaking ability. In addition, the researcher illustrated the details of Samples, Methodology, Results and Conclusion also.
