Abstract:

This study examines the integration of digital tools in the work of Accredited Social Health Activists (ASHAs) in Meghalaya, focusing on maternal and child health service delivery. Using in-depth interviews with 30 ASHAs across six Primary Health Centers in East Khasi Hills, the research explored awareness, usage patterns, and challenges of technology adoption. Results indicate 100% awareness of digital tools, with 37.5% of ASHAs using them daily and 62.5% weekly. Reported benefits included improved reporting efficiency (25%) and enhanced service delivery (37.5%), while key challenges were poor internet connectivity (100%) and insufficient training (50%). Despite operational improvements, 87.5% of respondents reported no significant changes in health outcomes. Strengthened training and infrastructure support are essential for leveraging digital transformation effectively.
